About Scotty Wright:

Scotty Wright, jazz vocalist, has decided now is the time to sing what’s Wright. Scotty is a songwriter and will present several of his own original compositions. So what’s left? The time-honored classics, and jazz standards, of course! The treasure trove of melodies that have withstood the test of time. Scotty’s songs are about the people, places, thoughts and feelings he has known and experienced over the years. Every song, (including the ones he didn’t write) are performed with love and respect for the melody and lyric. The Scotty Wright Quintet glides smoothly, swinginly, from one song, one mood, one groove to another, inviting listeners along for a very satisfying ride. The quintet musicians are: Pete Carney - saxophone, Pablo Arencibia - piano, Joe Porter - bass, Stephen Bucholtz - drums, and Scotty Wright, voice.

About Carl Fischer:

Trumpeter CARL FISCHER'S career is one filled with musical highlights, notably as a prominent member of Billy Joel’s band since 2005. He was a favorite of the legendary Maynard Ferguson, with whom he spent more than a dozen years, and was music director and lead trumpeter for the iconic Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Along the way Carl has worked with Wynton Marsalis, Diana Ross, Chick Corea, and many more. With PATRICK BETTISON, piano & harmonica TIM GEORGE, bass and LUIS ALICEA, drums, the SUNSHINE CITY BRASS brings a vibrant, energetic sound all their own to the music. And a special treat is in store, with the addition of featured guest MIKE MacARTHUR. Mike’s early years with Maynard Ferguson and Dianne Schuur set the stage for his powerhouse saxophone sound to be in constant demand, and for several albums of his own.

About The USF Jazztet:

In celebration of Miles Davis’ centennial year, join the USF Jazztet for a tribute to a recording that monumentally shifted the jazz sound. In 1949 Davis, having just left Charlie Parker’s band, joined forces with arranger Gil Evans and others for the album that became known as the “Birth of the Cool.” Davis and Evans later collaborated on a number of timeless, period defining recordings such as “Miles Ahead,” “Sketches of Spain,” and “Porgy and Bess.” This nonet, led by trombonist Tom Brantley and featuring trumpet player John Castleman, the USF Jazztet also features: Aaron West- Alto Saxophone, Ross Strauser- Baritone Saxophone, Lyndsie Wilson- French Horn, Phil Beatty- Tuba, Pablo Arencibia- Piano, Mark Neuenschwander- Bass, and David Rudolph- Drums. Join us for this fabulous season finale!
