The Tampa Jazz Club is committed to nurturing the next generation of jazz musicians through our scholarship program, supporting talented young artists in the Tampa Bay area.
About the Program
Investing in Tampa's Musical Future
The Tampa Jazz Club Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to deserving young musicians who demonstrate exceptional talent and a passion for jazz. Our goal is to remove financial barriers so that talented students can pursue formal music education.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on musical ability, academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to the jazz tradition. The Tampa Jazz Club is committed to encouraging talented young jazz students and to presenting great live jazz in Tampa.
Since 2003, we have awarded Tampa Jazz Club scholarships to graduating area high school seniors who went on to study jazz performance or education.
To date, we have awarded $27,750 to 24 graduates.
Eligibility & Requirements
Who Can Apply?
Residency
Applicants must be current residents of the Tampa Bay area living in Hillsborough, Pasco, or Pinellas counties and enrolled in or accepted to an accredited music program.
Musical Ability
Applicants must demonstrate a strong aptitude for jazz music through an audition recording or live performance reviewed by our selection committee.
Financial Need
Priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need and would otherwise not have access to formal jazz music education.

The scholarship application period opens in the fall, but the deadline is typically the last day in May. Please check back here or contact us at tampajazzclub@tampajazzclub.com for the latest dates.
Award amounts vary each year based on available funding, but the typical dollar amount is $3,000. The Tampa Jazz Club sometimes awards multiple scholarships in any given year. Contact us for current award details.
Applications are submitted via email to tampajazzclub@tampajazzclub.com. Your completed application should include a brief personal statement, proof of enrollment or acceptance to a music program, 2 (two) letters of recommendation - 1 (one) from a band director, music teacher or other sponsor familiar with applicant’s musical ability and 1 (one) other from a non-family member, and, lastly, a performance audition recording in MP3 or video format. Links to YouTube videos are encouraged.
